Coverr review
We love video shoots. Creating original content is our preferred method in telling stories, selling a product or explaining a service. However... budgets don't always allow this, and in a new world of restrictions, stock footage has never been so important. While there are many services providing quality content, many are pricey and a paywall can be an obstacle for some. So step right up for Coverr, the free stock video service for you to hone your skills, at absolutely zero cost!
Coverr started in 2015, as a side project by filmmakers who wanted a catalogue of free content for themselves, six years on and there are thousands of stock videos for you to acquire, no strings attached. If all this doesn't sound good enough, Coverr one-ups itself by offering this content without any signup, just head to the website, browse at your leisure and start downloading! The website’s interface is maybe a little chaotic - there are a lot of tabs and windows that don’t have any specific layout, but it’s a small critique of something you’re not paying for… The range Coverr offers has really impressed me with stock videos for ‘Aerial Videography’, ‘Arts & Crafts’,‘Work from Home’ and several more.
The best compliment we can give Coverr is that we’ve already used their stock footage for some of our own videos, we recommend their nature stock! Even though the variety of videos is extensive within the categories, it isn’t greatly contrasting… but there are enough videos for you to get some differing content. If you find that Coverr’s selection is somewhat limited, they do also supply links to some of Shutterstock’s paid content (which carry heavy price tags) but this is good practise for Coverr to show what they are offering for free in comparison, which certainly isn’t bad! They even supply some animated videos free of charge for even more variety!
Other than a slightly cluttered web page, we can't find any downsides to Coverr. it’s free video stock, and includes a commercial license, which is great for professionals and businesses alike. There is certainly higher quality content out there in terms of variety and production value, but that’s what Shutterstock, Adobe, Envato and alike are for! So try it out, you might find some excellent stock for your content.
