'Echo - let the world hear' review
Doom-scrolling… we all do it, especially for the last 18 months. If there’s a lull in the conversation, or the tv’s boring you, we immediately open up our socials and begin the process… we may snort a little, or genuinely laugh - but in terms of garnering a human response, social media can fall short. Words can be highly stimulating (our reviews for example!) but not always, and maybe sometimes what we need is our other senses to be tingled too. With that thought in mind, there’s a new app on the market, available on Google Play,
‘Echo - let the world hear’ an all new social medium, a channel catered for, you guessed it, the ears.
Echo - let the world hear (we’ll call it Echo for short) is essentially, Twitter for the ears, or at least that’s what the developers want it to be. It is very (very) much in its infancy, so much so we have found only a handful of other users sharing posts. We’ve all been in Whatsapp group chats that are teaming with voice-notes, well Echo wants to take that to the next level. Share your thoughts how you want them to be processed, articulate how you wish - give a voice to your posts. It’s a nice idea, and very simple to try out for yourself. Just sign up from google play and download the app straight to your android device (the app isn’t currently available on Apple, but we expect this will change down the line).
It is free, no hidden fees and once in, simply navigate through the feed and look for people you want to follow - so far all we have found is a few users sharing ideas on how to improve the service - one user pointed out something we noticed instantly, a rather roundabout way of adding in your date of birth… which is less than obvious to input, we hope they fix this. Once in however, it’s simple to use and actually quite fun, (yes your voice actually does sound like that). There is nothing especially wrong with Echo, except no-one is currently using it, and until that changes, it’s not super exciting, you’ll likely move on after a couple of minutes. Having said that, we think there’s real potential for Echo to a player in the world of social media - yes there is plenty, but they are slowly merging into one homogenous blob, this one at least is different.
Echo ironically needs a voice, hopefully this helps! Once it’s got a steady number of users we can see this being a refreshing take on our doom-scrolls! Or maybe it won’t be so doom and gloom, but we shall have to wait and hear!
Echo, not yet guys, but soon! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼/5.
