identid.me review

Not all creatives are the finished article, in fact, many are just starting out, slaving away in their bedroom trying to perfect their craft before they even consider doing it for a living. Work is a hard graft, but they say do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. One thing marketers and managing directors will continuously agree on is the importance of brand awareness. Whether you’re one cog in a conglomerate machine, or a freelancer working seven days a week, standing out from the crowd for potential clients is an essential. Step up, identid.me, the online identity for professional creatives and alike. This service is designed to be visual, showcasing your work the right way. Why have words on a page if you’re a photographer?

identid.me is free to sign up, at least initially which we were pleasantly surprised about, when making your portfolio, there is a plethora of templates available to first test out what you think does and doesn’t work for you. For those who require a more personal touch, you can sign up for a ‘First Job’ account, setting you back $10 a month, or for the optimum experience - the professional account is $15 a month (the subscription specs are pictured). However, the free service provides you with ample features for your online portfolio. One page, clean, pretty, informative and ‘on brand’. Designing is simple, plenty of colour options, layouts, customisable text and drag and drop features make creating your new visual CV very easy, and quite fun too.

We have to say, identid.me is not the most obviously explained service we’ve ever come across. The site is fit for purpose and editing your page from a template is straightforward, fun and the pages definitely look nice; but if you were to stumble upon this service by chance, navigating your way through might not be the easiest thing you do that day. If you are confused about what identid.me is, or you have any questions at all, there is a web chat available in the bottom right corner, (it’s the bug icon!) Also, there is an ‘About Us’ section which explains the creators’ very lovely mission for this site. From what we can gather, identid.me is a network for clients to peruse, hoping to find the online portfolio that best fits their needs. We recommend you try out a few designs to perfect your portfolio to find what you think speaks to potential clients as much as what shows what you’re about.

Identid.me is not the finished product, in fact they say this themselves, they don’t claim to be perfect but they certainly know why they want to provide this service, it has some confusing click throughs, and some currently unavailable features, but down the line we expect identid.me and similar services to be the norm for freelancers and creators worldwide, perhaps this is a real start?

Identid.me, pretty good stuff, but some more explanation on your homepage for navigation would help people get the best from you!  👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼/5!
