Client: Strata Homes
Service: Video
Every year, Strata Homes supports a different charity to help raise awareness of their work and shine a light on a good cause. Autism Angels is a charity whose work aims to provide families with a place to feel welcomed, accepted and supported. The charity works with horses to support learning and to create ‘real life’ scenarios that can be then practiced and worked through.
Danielle’s Flutterbyes was another charity that received the support of Strata. It supports people aged 18–40 living with kidney disease and was set up by Ruth and Sarah Braddock, mum and sister to Danielle who died from kidney failure in 2014.
Telling Danielle’s story
Strata asked us to produce a video to explain the fantastic work of Danielle’s Flutterbyes and how the charity was founded. To do that, we worked with Ruth and Sarah to help them tell Danielle’s story and to highlight the serious issue of liver disease in young people.
Of course this was a difficult story to share. It was important for us to get to know both Ruth and Sarah well before the cameras rolled, so that they felt comfortable with and clear about what we wanted to achieve together. It was important to give them the space to share their experience in a safe, trusted environment.
The production process has many stages, but we made sure Ruth and Sarah got to see and approve our work throughout. Once the video was complete, it premiered at a Danielle’s Flutterbyes charity ball before a live auction, encouraging people to offer donations.
Raising awareness
The work carried out by Danielle’s Flutterbyes is so important and we were delighted to meet and work with Ruth and Sarah on this video. Strata have used it to raise awareness of the charity and showcase the many ways in which it helps people living with kidney diseases.
