Editor X review

It’s no secret, the world’s online - and has been for some time. Online shopping is growing exponentially and having genuine impact from your laptop will leave an indelible mark on your career and personal life. If you’re looking to start out professionally on the world-wide-web, other than your social profiles, you will need a website. Lo and behold, enter the new contender: Editor X.

Editor X is a web designer tool, a beta in its own right but originally part of Wix. It is completely customisable so you can build the platform fit for you and your products/services. The service is free to start with, and while I will admit I have no need for it right now, it’ll be good to keep it in the back of my mind. You can sign up for Editor X using a google account - no need for a password, bang, you’re in. To start creating your website, first choose an option for what you intend to use your website for , this helps categorise the templates Editor X recommends you use (although it is highly customisable). What I liked most about the tool was the drag and drop feature, it made creating a webpage as simple as you would hope. The layout is clean and easy to navigate, and the page-building is highly intuitive. I was shocked at how simple it came across considering the nightmares you hear from web devs. I didn’t test this app to its limits, as I had alluded to I don’t have a service I want to provide. But what I did try out impressed me.

Like many web development tools, there is a fee attached - and a competitive one at that. £15 a month is the charge for a personal website - with that you get custom domain free for one year, no Editor X branding, 10gb storage space and 1 hour of video. For the professional experience, it is £24 a month, this includes 20gb of storage space, 2 hours of video on top of the perks of the personal account. There is also a VIP account which grants you a whopping 35gb of storage, 5 hours of video and priority customer care. There are several upcoming features also that are TBA, so I will update as I know more regarding this. Compared to similar services such as Squarespace the pricing is more or less the same - Squarespace’s online help centre is easy to search and navigate and they have a video-based FAQ section which Editor X falls behind on. However, Editor X’s helpline is available 16 hours a day and they have up-to-date knowledge on their services so you are not really missing out with choosing this tool.

All in all, Editor X is incredibly user-friendly and highly functional. The reach of its customisation is its niche, and the competitive cost attached given its professional standard is to be admired considering the features are definitely boast-worthy. I would say that the needs for this service may be essential for some, but definitely not for everyone. But if you have your own business, I would say Editor X is the best number two you could have.
