Okatodo review

Who else amongst our readers are serial to-do list makers? Because all of us at OD are… it would almost be considered a problem if they didn’t pay dividends. Creating ‘sticky notes’ on your pc, typing schedules and meetings into your calendar, or even the good old-fashioned real-world writing in a diary/planner - it’s all good. But perhaps there’s an even better way, in a time where almost all work is handled on a computer/phone - why not use a specialised to-do list app that’s built in to your machine altogether? Okatodo is a tool created for just that! Curious?

Surreptitiously poking out of the side of your screen, Okatodo is designed to be compact, succinct but always available - simply click on the arrow protruding on to your desktop or home screen and add in a task. It’s free to download, and with no sign-up either! There is a colour list provided so you can catalogue your tasks, so you know what items are generally more important. For jobs that are time-sensitive, you can add deadlines, and even sync these to your calendar - so you don’t really have an excuse if you miss something… It may require some getting used to the instant access task-house, but it’s a good habit to get into. We found that whenever we check the time in the top right corner of our desktop, it reminds us to check the todo list which sits just beneath - so its location is probably no accident.

Okatodo includes a nice drag and drop interface so you can move your tasks around. As well as a search bar so you can locate a specific task that may have gotten lost; you can sync your tasks to your google drive as well as your calendar so you manage your work schedule from two fronts. There is a settings option to adjust your shortcut access, your colour-codes and operation settings, like if you want the sidebar to automatically minimise when off-screen etc. It’s all very user-friendly. Just in case you thought Okatodo had forgotten something, there is also an option to filter your tasks by date, category, deadline etc. So in theory, your entire life could be managed by a little arrow at the side of your screen - it’s very well put together. It has no features you likely haven’t seen before, but Okatodo as an overall product just feels very much the finished article - and we haven’t used a superior task-management tool in regards to efficiency, user-experience, look, feel and features. So we’re struggling to find a downside.

Task management apps are not a new thing, in fact we’ve reviewed many in the past. However this one just hits the mark in every aspect. And with it being free, it just compounds the standard Okatodo has set for task management.

Okatodo, we love this app - and we’ll be using it from now on. You score full marks!
